European Heritage Days: DÉMEMBRÉE - REMEMBERED, heritage of invisible women
Sunday 8 September, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00
Flash Guided tour of the "'DÉMEMBRÉE - REMEMBERED" section of the temporary exhibition. Sunday 8 September at 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm
This year, MEG is taking part in the European Heritage Days under the theme of "Networks", taking a look at the notion of heritage.
Under the title "Networks", the European Heritage Days on 7 and 8 September 2024 will look at how numerous civilisations have facilitated long-distance exchanges in trade, religious beliefs, scientific knowledge, technological innovations and cultural and artistic practices. Ancient roads, towns and villages, trading establishments, coaching inns, towers, fortifications and other structures have all been built and left their mark on the region.
During the European Heritage Days, you can explore these roads, paths and trails of history, rediscovering the traces they have left behind and gaining a better understanding of how a place's heritage is sometimes the result of a distant influence.
Visit DÉMEMBRÉE - REMEMBERED, heritage and legacies of invisible women:
Colonial collections are very often anonymous. The names of the women who wore them or created them are all too rarely mentioned. This tour will focus on the capsule "Dismembered - Remembered" from the exhibition "Memories. Genève dans le monde colonial" exhibition, curated by Bansoa Sigam, a Cameroonian-born Swiss curator and researcher specialising in African arts and heritage.
Visits are subject to registration (max. 20 people per visit). Please register via this link.
Please arrive at the museum reception desk at least 5 minutes before the start of the tour.
They take place on Sunday 8 September from :
- 2PM to 2.30PM
- 3PM to 3.30PM
- 4PM to 4.30PM
- 5PM to 5.30PM
These tours are given in French.
