A repair café in the heart of the museum.
Sunday 1 December, 11:00
Repair your scooter, coffee machine or food processor ? The MEG has joined forces with the FRC to offer you a repair café in the heart of the museum. Foyer. Sunday 1st December from 11am to 7pm.
With ever shorter product cycles and programmed obsolescence, consumer goods such as Kleenex seem to have become the norm today. The FRC refuses to accept this state of affairs and instead advocates sustainable consumption. This is why it organises its Repair Cafés, based on the Belgian concept that has spread throughout Europe.
The idea is simple: turn up with an appliance to be repaired, such as a toaster, grinder or record player. With the help of specialists, you can get your hands dirty and fix the problem - if possible! This proposal is intended to thumb its nose at the throw-away society: Repair Cafés give a new lease of life to defective appliances, extending their lifespan. As a bonus, you'll leave with a few extra skills. And a few tips: because the "durability" of a product, in other words its "repairability", starts with the act of buying.
This event takes place on the first Sunday of the month and is therefore free of charge and requires no prior registration.
