The awakening of the Sound Archives #31: record playing by DJ Ras Mali

During a one-and-a-half-hour set, the guest artists take us on a musical journey with their personal selections. Afrosonica - Soundscapes exhibition. 30 October from 6pm to 7.30pm

The LPs played during this DJ Set come from the Marco Botta collection, acquired by MEG in 2011. The collection comprises almost 5,000 LPs, most of which date from the 1960s and 70s and have been released on a multitude of labels around the world.
Artists are invited to come and dig through our collections a few hours before their set.

DJ Ras Mali

Arriving from Mali in the 1990s with hundreds of cassettes of traditional music, Ras Mali has since established himself in French-speaking Switzerland as a leading collector of African music. Among other things, he is the creator of the Diaraby Show on Radio Usine. From coupé-décalé to soukouss and afrobeat, Ras Mali's DJ sets showcase the musical dynamism of the African continent and its global influence.
