The awakening of the Sound Archives #18: Cobeia's record playing

During a one and a half hour set, the invited artists will take us on a musical journey with their personal selection. Foyer of the MEG (-1). Thursday, May 11th from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm.

Cobeia is a DJ and record collector from Geneva and the curator and promoter of Ecoutes au vert (EAV), a series of music events that has been running since 2006. Happy to explore a wide range of styles, he unearths gems through long digging sessions. Traditional and modern African music, Outernational, Jazzz, Afro-Funk, Post Punk, Disco, Cosmic, Italo, Wave, Electronic, Ambient, Experimental... are some of the genres he listens and plays. Cobeia has mixed in venues and festivals in Geneva, Switzerland, Berlin, Thailand and Vietnam and has organized many concerts and parties of Electro-acoustic, African, No Wave, Electronic, Disco, Experimental music. A few years ago, he coordinated an event with the traditional Kenyan group Ogoya Nengo & the Dodo Women's Choir Group in collaboration with record collector Jean Toussaint at MEG.
The records played during this DJ-set come from a collection, the Marco Botta collection, acquired by MEG in 2011. It includes nearly 5000 LPs, released on a multitude of labels around the world, the majority of which date from the 1960s-70s.
