Cycle of conferences: "Between Andalusian folk art and heritage: when politics redefine the boundaries of flamenco".
Wednesday 3 May 2023, 16:00
Conference of the Master in ethnomusicology. Presented by Cecilia Raziano González, Doctor in Political and Cultural Geography - researcher, UNIGE. Auditorium. Wednesday, May 3 at 4:00 pm.
The advent of democracy in Spain and the construction of the Andalusian Autonomous Community marked a paradigm shift in the institutional management of flamenco in the aftermath of Francoism. From "Andalusian popular art" to "intangible cultural heritage of humanity", the construction and evolution of these different institutional categories since the 1980s have shown that the boundaries of flamenco can be modified according to regional and national political interests and circumstances.
