The shared management of the Africa Museum's sound archives. Appropriation, dissemination, co-creation, FAIRisation, legislation and restitution" by Rémy Jadinon, senior researcher in musicology at the Africa Museum (Belgium)
The Africa Museum's sound archives (37,000 recordings) are made up of musical heritage from the former Belgian colonies. Their legitimacy is, today, regularly contested. The objective of this intervention is to expose different paradigms framing the management of intangible collections held by cultural institutions, which raise legal and emotional questions related to accessibility, intellectual property legislation and the artistic and scientific (re)use of these heritages.
Speaker: Rémy Jadinon, senior researcher in musicology at the Africa Museum (Belgium).
This lecture series of the Master of ethnomusicology is the result of a collaboration between the Universities of Geneva and Neuchâtel and the MEG.
Next dates to come: Tuesday April 5 and Tuesday May 3
