Decolonisation, gender and sustainability: a film cycle that addresses three important and current societal issues. Auditorium. Sunday 9 October 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm.

MEG's Sunday movies continue for a season around three essential and current notions: decolonisation, gender and sustainability.
Documentary, fiction and animation films addressing these themes will be screened free of charge in the Museum's Auditorium several Sundays a month.

As part of Everybody's perfect, Geneva's queer film festival, which takes place from 9 to 16 October 2022, Horacio Alcalá's film Finlandia is screened at the MEG on Sunday 9 October.

In Juchitan de Zaragoza, in the south-east of Mexico, live the muxes, a community of so-called third gender people, originating from the pre-Colombian Zapotec culture. They are spiritual leaders, healers or stylists, all socially respected roles. Suspended between beauty and vulnerability, their identity sometimes inspires disgust or lust. When a Spanish fashion company sets out to steal their traditional design, the tension between the antagonisms rumbles deeply... A magical land, the magnetism of muxes and purely sublime cinematography. The universe of this fiction is unforgettable... The drama that plays out gives victory to art and humanity.

Followed by a discussion with the director Horacio Alcalá who will be present for the occasion.
