Two perspectives on the temporary exhibition and the Swiss presence in Brazil, from yesterday to today. A history of land and appropriation. Temporary exhibition. Sunday 4 December, 11 am - 12.30 pm.
The Swiss presence in Brazil, from yesterday to today. A history of land and appropriation.
In the first part of this visit we will meet the inhabitants of Helvecia and visit the exhibition with the photographer Dom Smaz and the journalist Milena Machado, co-curators of the exhibition. He and she will share with you their approach and their views on this Brazilian village in Bahia in the 21st century.
In the second part, we will discuss with Adrià Budry Carbó, investigator for Public Eye, and we will discover his work through a vast investigation carried out in Brazil about the abuses in the orange plantations in Brazil, which supply, among others, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a company based in Geneva.
This visit offers two perspectives on the temporary exhibition. An invitation to create links, reflections and discussions between these two different times.
This event takes place on the first Sunday of the month, so it is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
Adrià Budry Carbó has been working as co-head of commodities and financial crime investigations for Public Eye since 2019. He has reported from Brazil, Ecuador and Australia. A former journalist with Le Temps, he is a co-winner of the Acanu Prize, awarded by the UN correspondents, for his long format Trap on the High Seas: The Macabre Ballet of the Libyan Coast Guard.
