Series of lectures: Traditional music in Mediterranean Europe
Wednesday 28 September 2022, 16:00
From music to heritage, and vice versa. An anthropological journey through the traditional music of southern Europe. Speaker : Cyril Isnart, CNRS. auditorium. Wednesday, September 28 at 4 p.m.
What can we say about the traditional music of Mediterranean Europe today? After the end of the peasant world, after revivalism, world music and intangible cultural heritage, what do musical traditions tell us about the present time, its contradictions and its expectations? By following the thread of ethnographic surveys in France, Italy and Portugal, this conference attempts to grasp the social and cultural dynamics of this music, which has gone from the status of provincial folklore to that of heritage classified by Unesco.

Cyril Isnart : researcher at the CNRS, Post Doctoral Degree
